Nishant Pandey is the Country Director of the American India Foundation (AIF), based at New Delhi. In this capacity, Nishant provides strategic leadership to AIF’s India operations across 23 states and 6 signature programs.
As a British Chevening scholar, Nishant completed his Master’s degree in International Development & Finance from the University of Leicester, UK. He also holds M.A. in Economics and B.A. in Anthropology and Economics. Nishant has worked on livelihoods programmes in 12 countries including Russia, Tajikistan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Albania, Yemen, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Jordon, the UK and India over the last 18 years. He has advocated with several governments, the UN and other multi-lateral organisations on issues of regional trade agreements, small-holder agriculture, inclusive business and others, based on this experience of working at the grassroots level with rural communities in multiple countries.
Prior to joining AIF, he was the Country Director for Israel & the Occupied Palestinian territory at Oxfam, a global charity operating in 80 countries worldwide. Based out of Jerusalem, Mr Pandey led Oxfam’s social development and humanitarian operations in Gaza, West Bank, Jerusalem and Israel and Oxfam’s global influencing work on the Israel – Palestinian conflict.
