Highlights: Maura feels this is a pivotal time in Indian history, with many critical economic and social changes underway. She is excited to learn firsthand how grassroots movements are catalyzing these changes. She hopes that by supporting Shaishav as an AIF Fellow, she will be able to learn directly from marginalized communities about what assistance they truly need. Maura will be applying her management consulting skills to support Shaishav in its organizational strategy and overall program management. She also hopes to design programs that encourage children, particularly girls, to stay in school. Prior experiences that would help her in these endeavors include: time spent volunteering for an NGO in China that focused on the children of internal migrant laborers, teaching English in Japan on the JET Program, graduate research focusing on economic and social development, interning with the Department of State, managing an executive master’s degree program at UCSD, and most recently, consulting at Booz Allen Hamilton.
