Highlights: Prerna was born in Delhi and attended different international schools around the world. Her love for travel and passion for development led her to pursue internships with NGOs in Kenya, Vietnam and the Ecuadorian Amazon and work closely with various marginalized populations such as street children and indigenous youth. These experiences sparked her interest in social transformation through youth-led advocacy. During her time at Brown, Prerna co-led the largest student-run organization on campus called Brown Refugee Youth Tutoring and Enrichment (BRYTE), which organizes and trains students to provide weekly ESL tutoring and mentoring to recently resettled refugee children. In 2010, she attended the Clinton Global Initiative University Conference as a representative for BRYTE. Upon graduation, she spent a year working with the business development team at an international NGO in Washington DC. Prerna’s interests now lie in examining different models of youth engagement in the field and reconnecting with her Indian roots.
