Learning and Migration Program - Spreading the light of education

Every year in India, over 140 million seasonal migrants travel the country looking for work, often traveling up to 8 months of the year, and mostly, with their children with them. Many of these children never enter school while several others get a piecemeal education thus continuing to fall behind their peers and extending the cycle of poverty for so many families.

AIF has developed a program specifically for these children, LAMP -- Learning and Migration Program. By working with migrant children, AIF is able to provide a consistent and challenging education system for these very children, giving them the chance to change their futures.

The LAMP holistic approach

• Access and enrolment of children at the pre-primary stage in child care centers.
• Improved learning outcomes for children and adolescents with access to high-quality public-school education.
• Equip Learning Resource Centers with technology to overcome the educational and digital divide due to school closure owing to the COVID 19 pandemic.
• Enhanced awareness and employability of adolescents girls and youth.
• Increased knowledge, skills, and competencies among the government teachers and school leaders.
• Increased community participation in strengthening school governance.
