Highlights: Dilip Surkar has been working in the field of environment conservation, education and sustainable development for 32 years, primarily in the non-governmental and civil society sector. He is a development professional with a vision to improve quality of life and sustainable livelihood opportunity for communities. He is currently working as the Executive Director of the Vikram A. Sarabhai Community Science Centre (www.vascsc.org), Ahmedabad. He is also serving as the Director of VIKSAT, Ahmedabad. Under his leadership, VASCSC received the ‘National Award for Science & Technology Communication’ from Govt. of India, and the prestigious ‘Times of India Social Impact Award for Education Sector’. He served as the National Coordinator of the GEF UNDP SGP in India. He has also served as the Managing Director of Paryavaran Edutech, a not-for-profit company. He is an Engineering graduate with postgraduate education in Financial Management, Environment Education and Water & Sanitation. He has been a dynamic and active contributor to various areas of scientific, educational, environmental and social relevance. He has been associated with several institutions and networks in various capacities. He has been co-chair of the End Water Poverty (EWP) for two years. He was Board member of CANSA for four years. He is currently the Chairman of the Society for Sustainable Urban Development (SSUD), Ahmedabad. He is on Boards of organizations including CEE, CHETNA, KHAMIR and Paryavaran Edutech. He is also a member of several Committees contributing to conservation and development.
