Circle of Hope Members in New England gather at Mithu Bhargava’s home for a discussion on disability.

We are pleased to announce that for 2020-21 year, the  Circle of Hope New England, by a majority vote granted $25,000 to the LAMP(Learning and Migration) program of AIF  that will enable and enrich  300 adolescent girls in vulnerable communities in Barmer in the state of Rajasthan, India and ensure continuous academic and life skills support at the secondary school level ( grades 6 to 8). This will be done with the creation of adolescent girl groups; help provide peer support and encourage girls to be more vocal about their right to education. The project will also provide guidance on menstrual health management and preventive measures against other common ailments like malnutrition and anemia. There will also be an emphasis on role models amongst these girls to motivate other girls to perform better.

We also wanted to share that with the COVID situation, we immediately pivoted to see how best we as a group can help in this crisis. With an additional grant of 5K, we decided to support educational kits to ensure that the children do not fall behind as we battle this crisis in a very uncertain time. Driven by the program staff, the Mobile library would comprise of kits containing a storybook, educational puzzle, and a set of color crayons.
