On June 18, 2014, in partnership with Accenture and TiE DC, AIF hosted an event with Ravi Venkatesan at the offices of Jones Day to discuss his book, “Conquering the Chaos: Win in India, Win Everywhere.” The evening brought together a diverse group of seasoned supporters, corporate partners, new supporters, and members of the AIF DC Young Professionals, as well as guests from respected businesses, government offices, and the media.
The evening started with a cocktail hour, giving guests an opportunity to mingle, catch up, and network, after which Author Ravi Venkatesan took the stage and gave the audience some background on his book. The following discussion was moderated by Richard Rossow, Wadhwani Chair at CSIS. The audience participated in an engaging and spirited Q&A session that elicited some great questions about social enterprises in India, comparisons between India, Japan, and China, and the effect of the Modi government on the ease of doing business in India. Mr. Venkatesan then regaled the audience with some of his personal experiences and insights from doing business in India, and presented a case for why it’s worth it for any global-minded company.
Many guests lingered after the event to continue discussing these issues with Mr. Venkatesan, who concluded the evening with a book signing. The event drew in many new supporters for AIF, for an enjoyable evening of good food, great conversation, and perceptive insights into doing business in India.
