FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 18, 2012, Austin, TX – Dell Giving announced the launch of an innovative partnership with the American India Foundation through its “Powering the Possible” initiative, leveraging technology to do more by creating possibilities and transforming potential into broader societal benefit.
AIF and Dell have worked together since 2009 through Digital Equalizer, a technology-enabled learning program for underserved schools that focuses on sustainability and long-term learning impact. Digital Equalizer utilizes technology as a vehicle of change by enhancing school curricula and introducing new pedagogical methodologies in the classroom, delivered through extensive teacher trainings. Dell Global Giving’s YouthConnect has enabled AIF to serve 99 schools and impact more than 70,000 students through this partnership to date. In the coming year, AIF will reach an additional 50 schools and two teacher training institutes.
Through this partnership, AIF and Dell are implementing a flexible blended classroom model that embeds modern technology into classroom pedagogy at multiple levels to transform underresourced schools into strong institutions of learning and exploration by closing learning gaps, enriching teaching and learning through innovative teaching methods, and improving attendance through Dell technologies. Through the “Powering the Possible” partnership, AIF is innovating educational service delivery through the following models:
- • Digital School Labs and Teacher Training: Integrating technology in instructional methods, including critical thinking, collaborative learning, and project-based learning
- • Dell Connected Classrooms: State-of-the-art technology to engage students with more personalized learning experiences and fostering the production of innovative educational content
- • Centers of Excellence: Intensive teacher training to enable teachers to accelerate their learning, lesson planning, and integration of technology into curricula, resulting in a modular, flexible approach to teaching
AIF is committed to creating large-scale, sustainable impact in public education in India and prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to access and excel in today’s global economy.
