We are thrilled to celebrate a successful and impactful educational partnership with the Guru Krupa Foundation, whose generous funding is propelling our new project aimed at transforming the educational landscape in Karnataka. This collaboration builds on the remarkable success of our previous educational initiative in the Shivamogga district, which received widespread recognition and support from students, teachers, government officials, and the community at large.
Building on this momentum, we are excited to launch our new project in the Kalyana Karnataka region, specifically targeting the Devadurga block in Raichur, one of the state’s aspirational districts that faces numerous socio-economic challenges as a primarily agricultural based economy. Frequent droughts, low agricultural yield, and limited alternative livelihood options force many families into a cycle of seasonal and distress migration, disrupting the education of thousands of children.
In 2023, Karnataka experienced one of its worst droughts, affecting 195 out of 236 taluks. The delayed 2024 monsoon is expected to worsen the situation, leading to an early start of migration and significant interruptions in the education of children from migrating families. Recognizing this pressing issue, AIF, with the generous support of the Guru Krupa Foundation, is bringing our Learning and Migration Program (LAMP) to the Devadurga block of the Raichur district.
LAMP aims to bridge the learning gaps for 10,000 migrant children from 20 schools over the next three years. Our innovative hub-and-spoke model will establish Learning Resource Centers (LRCs) in each hub school, serving the learning needs of both the hub and its three spoke schools. These centers will provide a supportive learning environment, equipped with essential resources to enhance migrant children’s educational experience. In addition to establishing LRCs, the project aims to improve teaching quality, promote parental engagement, and enhance school governance through community mobilization.
