Business can become a force of good by collaborating with NGOs to co-create lasting social impact. To promote its mission of catalyzing social and economic change in India through a multipronged approach that incorporates health, education, livelihood and leadership programs, AIF partnered with celebrated designer Anita Dongre’s brand in hosting a fun filled evening of friends and supporters of AIF. The event was held at Anita Dongre’s signature New York City location, which offered a visual delight for everyone.
The partnership between AIF and Anita Dongre represents the culmination of the synergies that exists between the two, especially around empowering women with a sustainable source of income. Anita Dongre’s flagship establishment in New York showcases its Grassroots label along with her haute couture line. Grassroots nurtures handcrafted traditions by empowering rural artisans with continuous work and creating livelihoods. The designs are contemporary with a global appeal presenting longstanding weaving traditions. The color palette is seasonal and inviting.
The event was a culmination of fashion and social extravaganza that helped raise funds for AIF. Twenty percent of all the sale proceeds during the event were donated to AIF making it a success. The event marks a continuation of a partnership between the fashion house and AIF where sustainable livelihood is the focus and preserving traditional crafts and artisan talent is a key mandate. I hope to see the partnership thrive in making a strong impact in fight against poverty in India.
