A shocking 2,200 children under five years of age die every day in India. Two-thirds of these deaths happen within the first month of the child being born. The good news is, with proper management by a trained health worker, most of these deaths are preventable.

Through a life-stage approach, involving adolescent girls, young couples, pregnant and nursing mothers, and children under five, the MANSI (Maternal and Newborn Survival Initiative) program ensures quality home-based preventive and curative care by trained frontline health workers.

Specifically, the program focuses on populations that are most vulnerable and more often in hard-to-reach areas to ensure new mothers and infants have the care they need to prepare for, survive, and thrive during and after pregnancy.
