Annual Report 2016-2017

The American India Foundation (AIF) has a bold purpose: to defeat poverty in India through strategically mobilizing philanthropic talent and wealth in the United States and in India. We do this by drawing the world’s two largest democracies closer together and providing a model of how civil society collaboration can lead to pragmatic solutions for critical issues.

MANSI Evaluation Report

MANSI works to save the lives of mothers and babies through a public-private partnership model, providing quality training and capacity-building in home-based neonatal care (HBNC) to government-sponsored community health workers known as accredited social health activists (ASHAs)—known as Sahiyyas in the state of Jharkhand— along with ongoing support to the district health team. This independent evaluation of MANSI’s five-year pilot demonstrates its success in reducing neonatal mortality (by 46%), infant mortality (by 39%), and under-5 mortality (by 43.6%).
