Isabel Mares

Isabel has served at the intersections of philanthropy, cultural arts, and community-building for over a decade. Her career spans nonprofit fundraising, cultural arts production, higher education, interfaith organizing, and the performing arts. Prior to joining AIF, she served the North American JCCs (Jewish Community Centers and Camps) in financial resource development and cultural arts programming. In this work, she worked with over 170 communities through major gifts fundraising, regranting to local communities, and professional development for JCC staff. Isabel has held a variety of positions within landmark New York City institutions such as Carnegie Hall, The Guggenheim Museum, The Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and The Art Students League of New York.

Isabel holds her Master’s in Theology and the Arts from Union Theological Seminary. She studied classical voice at Manhattan School of Music before merging her passions for the arts, social impact philanthropy, community engagement, and intercultural storytelling. Isabel lives in New Jersey with her partner, daughter, cat and all the other locals in their garden.
