Shivam Shumsher is a researcher and development practitioner with a rights-based focus and a belief in- strengthening participation, sustainability, and promoting social innovation. He has an interdisciplinary education and training in intersections of Social Work, Psychology, Anthropology and Human Rights. He holds a B.A. (Hons) in Humanities & Social Sciences and M.A. Social Work degree both from the University of Delhi.
Shivam has undertaken program implementation, research and communication work with various stakeholders supporting and informing public policies. He started his career as a Young Professional with Livelihood Mission of Rajasthan where he looked after field operations and monitoring of women Self Help Groups in tribal and backward regions. He has worked with Nazdeek, a legal empowerment organization as Program Associate supporting human rights research and advocacy on Right to Safe Motherhood and Housing Rights in Delhi and on Labor Rights in the Apparel Industry of Tamil Nadu. At Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), think-tank under the aegis of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, as a Research Associate, he worked on various end-to-end CSR research, advisory projects for various clients including corporates, government ministries amongst others.
He has undertaken research and consultation work on themes including gender and public health in rural and peri-urban locations. He advocates for multi-stakeholder, long-term and innovative ways of creating social change and impact with a focus on end-user.
