Sophia Nesamoney

Sophia is a Junior at Castilleja School and serves as the chair of the American India Foundation Junior Board. Sophia has been associated with AIF since 2011 when she collaborated with friends to design and auction paintings to raise funds for the Digital Equalizer program for AIF. She is also a published author and the proceeds of the sale of her book “The other side of Caroll” has been donated to AIF. At her school, Sophia is the co chair of the STEMx club and the Peer Tutoring club. She is also a middle school tennis coach and programming lead for her school’s robotics team. Sophia is a member of the Young Inklings junior advisory board. She is an avid writer and has own many writing competitions and is a Teaching Assistant for the Library and columnist for her schools’ newspaper. Sophia also participated in the Youth Ambassador Program in her Freshman and Sophomore summers. Sophia is passionate about science and technology to design innovative solutions to provide access to health across the world especially in marginalized communities. She is currently editing her second novel and developing a health app for adolescent girls. In her spare time Sophia loves to play tennis, bake and hang out with her family and friends.
